Faith Penitent

Priests of this Order are, or claim to be, directly inspired by their deities. They serve as direct instruments of their deities will, falling into trances that enhance their magical powers.

Trance – Starting at 1st level, a penitent priest can use a bonus action to become entranced for 1 minute. This effect ends early if they use another bonus action to end it, if they are reduced to 0 hit points, or if they end their turn without casting a spell or using the Channel Divinity feature.

While entranced, a penitent priest only speaks and understands the liturgical language of their religion (even if they can’t normally speak or understand that language), but is also resistant to bleeding, fatigue, necrotic, and psychic damage, and adds 1d4 to spell checks, saving throws, and rolls for the effects of priest spells and features (usually damage and healing).

A penitent priest can use this feature twice, and must then finish a long rest before using it again.

The size of die the penitent priest adds while entranced increases to 1d6 when they reach 5th level in this class, and 1d8 when they reach 8th level.
